Schönheit als musikhistorischer brüchiger Begriff spielt in meinem Schaffen immer eine wichtige Rolle. Trotz der musikphilosophischen Fallstricke dieses Begriffs scheint er mir für mein Selbstverständnis als Künstler unentbehrlich. Schönheit liegt in meinem Empfinden vor allem in dem Zarten, dem Zerbrechlichen. Was schön ist, ist kostbar und kann so leicht zerstört werden. Die Kombination von Violine und Cello spiegelt diese Zerbrechlichkeit wieder: zwei Holzkörper, die einen filigranen, aber keinen massigen Klang erzeugen können, mehr Aquarell- als Acrylfarbe. Selbst mit zwei Instrumenten sind schon farbenreiche vierstimmige Akkorde möglich, die hier wie einzelne Pinselstriche aufs Blatt gesetzt sind. Das die Schönheit jedoch dauerhaft in Gefahr ist, zeigen die Klänge, die plötzlich wie ein Schattenecho mit starken “sul ponticello”-Spiel erklingen, quietschend und unruhig. Die Dunkelheit lauert eben doch hinter der nächsten Ecke…

Beauty, as a fragile concept in music history, always plays an important role in my work. Despite the pitfalls of this concept in music philosophy, it seems indispensable to me for my self-image as an artist. In my opinion, beauty lies above all in the delicate, the fragile. What is beautiful is precious and can so easily be destroyed. The combination of violin and cello reflects this fragility: two wooden bodies that can produce a delicate but not a massive sound, more like watercolor than acrylic paint. Even with two instruments, colorful four-part chords are possible, which are placed on the page here like individual brushstrokes. However, the sounds that suddenly resound like a shadow echo with strong “sul ponticello” playing, squeaky and restless, show that beauty is in constant danger. Darkness lurks just around the corner...
