für Chor (2026)
(3-4min)
Information

Note
Soft, elusive, harp-like sounds of the piano are combined with long-held clarinet notes that fade in and out. Not really a melody but a constantly shifting color change with little accents. The music reacts to the poem “September II” by Eva Strittmatter: she talks about nostalgia, about the slowly approaching end and subtle scents in the air. The poem translates to:
September is the month of longing
with distant haze in early light.
Life becomes more painfully palpable:
Sum of failure and renunciation.September is month of deception:
That everything begins again.
Confusion as before a spring.
and we: as if we are eternal. We pass through silver and through blueness
almost transformed by the air
that is mild as the air of distant places
and as if spiced by the bitter scentOf nuts, and only now and then
stirred by a rose.
September - moon of diurnal stars
in shrubs of dew. How sharply one feelson such mornings: to know all things,
to still be human and no longer young.
Remembrance is in our kisses.
In every word: Remembrance. All our live has been for long
a threefold threaded song:
Hope and longing shyly chirp.
From remembrance comes the sound. The full and the deep tones
Come from what was with us.
But in September beauty shines
once more on our skin and hair.
